Three local winners at national awards ceremony celebrating Asian cuisine
Edinburgh and Lothians’ curry kings won national Spice Awards at a glitzy ceremony in Glasgow on Monday evening.
The Spice Awards 2026 celebrated the very best of Asian and Indian cuisine across Scotland at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.
Now in its eighth year, the Spice Awards honour the talent, dedication, and passion of the food businesses that bring flavour and culture to communities across Scotland.
Fusing Chinese and Portuguese food, Edinburgh’s Macau Kitchen walked away with the Best Dining Experience national award.
Accepting the award, the owner of the St Leonard’s Street restaurant said: “I think it’s a great award, and it’s really for the whole team that works very hard all year.
“We are just going to carry on doing what we do every day, which is giving great dining experiences.
“I think any award benefits any business, and everybody deserves to be here. We are happy to have won this award.
“We focus so much on the dining experience, so to win this is a recognition and encouragement for everyone to work hard and keep doing what we are doing.”
Meanwhile, picking up the Best Newcomer Spice Award, the owners of Bombay Bar and Grill in Prestonpans said: “It means a lot for just a one-year old business, to have now won two awards in our first year, I’m speechless, I’m in seven heaven, it’s been a lot of hard work.”

While, Kebabish Grill and Steak, based at Dalry Road, was awarded the Best Edinburgh Restaurant Spice Award.
Speaking at the ceremony, the owner of the Pakistani and Indian grill restaurant said: “It’s great, fantastic to win. It always benefits you every time you win something. You get good coverage, it’s very good to have won this award.”
The Spice Awards invite communities from across the country to support their favourite local and national businesses by voting for them via an online voting system.
The public votes for their favourite venues/businesses across Scotland, and businesses with the most votes in each category make the final.
Finalists are then visited by a panel of independent judges and scored, with the winners announced at the annual awards ceremony in Glasgow.
