Black Sheep Coffee is set to open a new cafe in Princes Street this month, with two more coming soon to the city centre.

The new branch at 25 Princes Street will be the third outlet for the popular company in the Capital, adding to cafes opened last year on the North Bridge and in the St James Quarter. Along with their speciality coffee, the store at St James Quarter also sells cocktails and other alcoholic drinks.

The new Princes Street cafe is set to open on March 21, with two more branches set to open this year. The popular London-based company is gearing up to open a George Street cafe right next door to Starbucks as well as another at 95 Princes Street. The historic location at 95 Princes Street is the last surviving completely intact Georgian town house on the main street. Black Sheep Coffee told the Evening News they have been granted permission for the building works to be done though it’s not known when this branch will open its doors to the public.

It has also been reported that they have indicated interest in taking over a vacant retail unit on Shandwick Place which, if successful, would be their sixth branch in Edinburgh.

After starting as a pop up in Camden in 2013, the brand has proved popular across the UK and globally, expanding into Scotland in recent years with branches now in Glasgow and St Andrews and another on the cards for Aberdeen. Describing the brand as ‘innovative’, company bosses say they hope to plug a gap in the market of established coffee chains by providing top quality coffee in large venues which stay open well into the evening. It’s also set to make its US debut with a store in Dallas in April 2023 after netting investment from NBA basketball player Kristaps Porzingis in October.
