Ranked at No.4 on the list is Edinburgh's own Greyfriars Bobby’s Bar, which dates from 1893 and is located just outside Greyfriars Kirkyard Cemetery on Candlemaker Row. This busy watering hole is, of course, named after the legendary local dog whose statue sits outside.
Eat Drink Meet says on its website: “You may or may not be familiar with the tale of Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier or Dandie Dinmont Terrier who became known in 19th-century Edinburgh for spending 14 years guarding the grave of his owner until the loyal pooch himself died on 14 January 1872.
