Edinburgh crime: Man charged in connection with ‘supply of drugs’ in Merchiston following community tip off

A 23-year-old man has been charged with drug offences in the Merchiston area of Edinburgh following a tip off from local residents.

Officers from Howdenhall arrested the man at a property in Merchiston Avenue on Friday, October 4 where they seized drugs worth more than £13,000 and a four-figure sum of cash.

In a statement on social media, Police Scotland said: “Following on from information provided by members of the public, officers from Howdenhall arrested and charged a 23-year-old man for being concerned in the supply of drugs in the Merchiston area.”

The 23-year-old man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Community Sergeant Jen Macgregor, from Howdenhall Police Station, said: “We’d like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter. This is great example of proactive police work supported by members of our communities who do not tolerate the illegal sale of drugs on our streets and nor do we.”
