Edinburgh shooting: One person injured after gun fired at Edinburgh pub window
Police are treating the incident as ‘targeted’ and investigations are ongoing
One person has been injured after a gun was fired towards the window of a pub on Gilmerton Road on Friday night.

Police were called to The Robin’s Nest pub at around 9.15pm on Friday night and one person was treated by paramedics.

Officers searched the area upon arrival but no-one was traced.
Police Scotland have said an investigation is ongoing, but are treating the incident as “targeted”.

Several residents reported hearing the shots but said they assumed the noise was “fireworks”.
One person in the area at the time said: “ We saw armed police close the road we got diverted. I got through about 20mins earlier and then came back up the road to all this.
“I must have just missed it.”

Detective Inspector Dougal Begg said: “I understand that this will be concerning for the community, but I would like to reassure them that extensive enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
“At this stage we are treating the incident as targeted but any actions like this are extremely reckless and put the safety of the public at risk.
“I am appealing to anyone who has any information, or saw something suspicious in the area, to come forward and speak with officers.
“We would also be keen to speak with anyone who has dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area which captures anything of note.
“A police presence will be in the area as our enquiries progress and anyone with concerns or information is encouraged to approach our officers.
“You can also call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3277 of 23 October, 2026 or Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Buses are currently diverted away from Gilmerton Road as investigations continue. The services affected are the 8, 3 and 29.
The service update said: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Gilmerton Road and Moredunvale Road are instead diverted via Old Dalkeith Road, and Lady Road in both directions until further notice.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
