Police share new CCTV image of convicted murderer with links to Edinburgh

Police have shared a new CCTV image of a convicted murderer with links to Edinburgh after he failed to return to prison on Tuesday.

Raymond McCourt, 59, who is serving a sentence at HMP Castle Huntly, was reported missing to police around 5.30pm on Tuesday, April, 22 after he did not return to the open prison.

The last confirmed sighting of him was at a premises in Duke Street, Glasgow at 4.40pm on the same day. The public are being asked not to approach him.

McCourt is described as being 6ft 2in tall, with a stocky build, short grey hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a checked red, white and blue shirt, a checked baseball cap and a rain jacket. McCourt has reduced mobility and uses public transport. Police added that he has connections to the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas.

Police are continuing to appeal for any information that could help to trace Raymond McCourt and any sightings or information can be passed to officers via 101, quoting reference 2857 of April, 22. Anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can do so through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
