Adorable footage shows otter splashing about in Holyrood Park loch

An incredible video shows a playful otter swimming in a loch near Arthur’s Seat.

The footage was taken by a passerby who fortunately caught the aquatic animal feasting on its catch yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, 22 September.

During the clip it can be seen diving into the water before coming up and eating whatever it can find in the loch.

Similar footage was taking about three weeks ago of an otter swimming in a loch in Holyrood Park, but it remains unclear whether or not it’s the same one.

Sightings of otters are fairly common in Edinburgh, with many being spotted in Water of Leith.

Otters are believed to inhabit two of the park's three lochs.

It has been reported the elusive creatures can sometimes be seen ranging between Duddingston loch and Dungsapie loch at dusk and dawn.
