“Showers will become widespread, heavy and thundery later Sunday morning, lasting through the afternoon and into Sunday evening. Whilst some areas may miss the heaviest showers, where they do occur, 10-15 mm of rain is possible in an hour or so, with 25-35 mm possible in several hours, Lightning and hail will be additional hazards. Heaviest of the showers will ease from the west through the evening.”
A Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) flood alert has also been issued for Edinburgh and Lothians.
The alert reads: “Heavy and thundery showers will develop on Sunday, most likely through the afternoon and evening.
“Not all areas will see the heaviest rain, however, if the heaviest rain falls over urban areas or the transport network there could be localised flooding of low lying land, roads, individual properties and local travel disruption.
“Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.”
