Hearts discover Conference League match dates and times for league phase as three trips abroad await
The times and dates fans have been waiting for in terms of Hearts’ next European matches are out.
Hearts’ league phase fixture dates in the Conference League have been confirmed.
It was revealed on Friday that Monaco, Pafos, Borac Banja Luka, Trabzonspor, Nordsjaelland and Thun were to be the Jambos’ foes in Europe between now and Christmas. Wouter Vrancken’s side reached the league phase by defeating Rapid Vienna on penalties earlier this week in a play-off tie and fans have been eagerly awaiting times and dates for their next continental adventures.
There are Tynecastle clashes with Monaco, Borac and Nordsjaelland to come alongside a trip to Cyprus at Pafos, Trazbzonspor in Turkey and a Swiss adventure against Thun. It’s been confirmed by UEFA that action begins against Nordsjaelland on October 15 and Trabzonspor away awaits the following week. The trip to Thun takes place on Bonfire Night and an early kick-off against Monaco is later that month on November 26. Home fixtures end against Borac on December 10 and the matches conclude away at Pafos eight days before Christmas.
Wouter Vrancken on Hearts European draw
Head coach Vrancken said of the draw: “It’s a tough draw, especially because in pot five and six, I think we have the best teams out of those two pots, Nordsjaelland and Thun. We also have nice teams like Monaco and Trabzonspor, so we’re looking forward to it. When you have a draw like this you know you’re going to play some really nice games against really good sides, but especially pots five and six, we were unlucky there with the best teams. But we are playing in Europe, so we will put everything into it.
“When you start such a competition you don’t start it to just participate, you start it to make something of it and making something of it is going to the next round. It is very important to be there, everybody was over the moon on Wednesday and I think for a group not used to playing those games, it is a good learning experience.
“While being there we want to also show ourselves. I think it is every player’s dream to show yourself in Europe, so for the development of the team and also as an individual it is good to be there.”
