Hearts have made an official move to bring Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes to Tynecastle as they step up the search for Neil Critchley’s successor.
The 53-year old has delivered success with St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock throughout his time as a head coach in Scottish football and a big part of that has been his signings. It’s fair to say the former Rangers midfielder has a preference for UK based players which brings up the question of what that means for the current oversees players at Tynecastle and the club’s current recruitment process involving Jamestown Analytics.
Here are the 116 signings that McInnes made for Aberdeen and Kilmarnock:

69. Jonny Hayes
Returned to Aberdeen after picking up a few trophies with Celtic and added another 135 league appearances to the 206 from his first spell. A modern day legend at the Granite City club. | SNS Group

70. Ryan Edmondson
An unremarkable loan signing from Leeds United. The England youth international showed flashes of quality but didn't make much of a mark during his time in Scotland. Now plays in Australia with Central Coast Mariners. | SNS Group

71. Marley Watkins
Impressed in Scotland earlier in his career with Inverness before heading back down south with Barnsley, Norwich and Bristol City. Scored two goals in nine games during his brief loan spell at Aberdeen in 2020. | SNS Group

72. Gary Woods
The former Hamilton Accies stopper was the last in a long line of keepers who were brought in to provide back-up to Joe Lewis after Cerny hung up his gloves. He signed on loan from Oldham Athletic and then permanently but managed just seven league appearances during that time. | SNS Group
