Hearts have made an official move to bring Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes to Tynecastle as they step up the search for Neil Critchley’s successor.
The 53-year old has delivered success with St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock throughout his time as a head coach in Scottish football and a big part of that has been his signings. It’s fair to say the former Rangers midfielder has a preference for UK based players which brings up the question of what that means for the current oversees players at Tynecastle and the club’s current recruitment process involving Jamestown Analytics.
Here are the 116 signings that McInnes made for Aberdeen and Kilmarnock:

9. Adam Rooney
Undoubtedly one of McInnes' most successful signings as Aberdeen boss. The Irish striker scored 66 goals in 151 games during a three and a half year stint where he was a fan favourite. Was well known in Scottish football having also bagged goals for Inverness prior to returning north of the border. | SNS Group

10. Shay Logan
Arrived on loan from Manchester City before signing permanently for Aberdeen. Was a stalwart of their first team for McInnes' entire tenure and would go on to have a loan spell with Hearts in 2021 | SNS Group

11. Scott Brown
While his namesake was winning trophies with Celtic the English keeper came in and established himself as first choice stopper at Pittodrie for a time but spent just two seasons in Scotland before heading back to the EFL | SNS Group

12. Ash Taylor
The Welsh centre half arrived on a free transfer from Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2014 and made 100 appearances in his first Aberdeen spell before leaving in 2017 and heading back down south | SNS Group
