Eric Cantona believes Man Utd’s treatment of legendary Scottish manager Sir Alex Ferguson is scandalous

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona says that he wants to throw the current board of directors into "big bag of s***’ following their decision to remove Sir Alex Ferguson from his ambassador role after an incredible 38-year association with the football club.

Red Devils co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who purchased a stake in Manchester United earlier this year, is believed to led discussions over Ferguson’s exit in a bid to raise funds for the existing playing squad. The 13-time Premier League winner was believed to be pocketing around £2.1m per year in his existing gig as an ambassador.

However, Cantona, who was brought to Manchester United from Leeds United in 1992, describes the move as ‘scandalous’ and heavily disrespectful to someone that has helped establish the team as one of Europe’s most successful clubs.

Cantona’s arrival in many people’s eyes including Gary Neville was the catalyst for Manchester United’s long-running dominance over English football. He scored 64 times in 143 league matches and was notably the recipient of the 1993/94 Player of the Season award.

Posting on instagram, the former France international turned actor Cantona said: 'Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do anything he wants at the club until the day he dies.

"Such a lack of respect. It's totally scandalous. Sir Alex Ferguson will be my boss forever! And I throw them all in a big bag of sh**!"
