Portobello’s Big Beach Busk Returns in Triumphant Style

The Big Beach Busk returned to Portobello on Saturday, August 29, 2026, transforming the historic promenade into a vibrant, coast-to-coast celebration of live music and community spirit. Bathed in glorious sunshine, thousands of visitors lined the shore to experience an all-day flash mob of local talent that proved why this end-of-summer fixture remains a jewel in Edinburgh's local calendar.

From noon until dusk, the two-mile stretch of the Prom echoed with an eclectic mix of sounds. Among the standout sights drawing massive crowds was a full- throttle Elvis Presley tribute performance, complete with the iconic white cape, detailed jumpsuit, and signature stage belt, treating onlookers to a rousing medley of the King's greatest rock-and-roll anthems.

Further along the sand and seawall, the musical mosaic unfolded with everything from a talented young pianist belting out Beatles classics to acoustic acts, jazz ensembles, folk groups, and emerging new bands. With no formal stages or barrier-locked headliners, the organic flow of artists allowed music lovers to wander freely, discover hidden gems, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere under clear blue skies.
