Sam Fender Edinburgh: Sam Fender cuts ‘astronomical’ ticket prices for Murrayfield gig after fan backlash
Ahead of his visit to Edinburgh next summer, Sam Fender has taken action over ticket prices for his upcoming stadium shows, scrapping tiered standing and lowering admission costs.
Sam Fender has stepped in to reduce “astronomical” ticket prices for his upcoming stadium tour, which includes a massive show in Edinburgh next summer.
The Mercury Prize-winning singer made the changes after being alerted to proposed rates for his Proper Massive Stadium Tour ’27, which had seen standing tickets listed for as much as £130.75.

In a post on Instagram on Saturday, Fender told fans: "I’ve managed to get front standing tickets removed from the UK stadium tour. Whoever buys a standing ticket gets as much chance as anyone to be at the front. No more 120 quid standing tickets either."
The 32-year-old Geordie acknowledged the challenges posed by increased costs in the live music industry, stating, "Costs are astronomical compared to two years ago, I can’t control the venue and ticketing fees, that’s a sad reality of today’s industry."
Fender provided updated ticket pricing details: general admission standing tickets will be £85, while seated options will range between £55 and £95. These prices exclude additional venue and ticket company fees, along with a £1 contribution per ticket to Live Trust, an organisation supporting grassroots music across the UK.
Earlier in the day, responding directly to the initial social media post, Fender expressed his dissatisfaction with the initial pricing structure. "I’m not happy with these prices," he said. "It got inflated well more than I’d had in mind, it should only be inflated in relation to the cost of putting the show on. The standing will not be split as well, I had no idea about it. I have no idea how this was normalised in gigs. It’s bollocks and it won’t be happening on this tour."
The post from Instagram user Gavin Davis outlined that prior to Fender's intervention, venues like Wembley Stadium had divided standing tickets into "front standing" at £130.75 and general standing at £98.85. Seating prices at Wembley were said to be between £64.75 and £130.75.
Similar pricing concerns were noted for other tour venues: Newcastle’s St James’s Park had top tickets at £112.90, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium at £119, and Edinburgh's top price was £120.95. Manchester’s Etihad Stadium tickets could reach £119.60, though details for Dublin’s Marley Park were not available.
As well as a gig at Murrayfield on July 8, the Proper Massive Stadium Tour ’27 will include dates in London, Newcastle, Cardiff, Dublin, Manchester.
Fender has claimed three UK number one albums and four UK top 10 singles throughout his career, with catalogue highlights including Hypersonic Missiles, Play God and Seventeen Going Under. His collaborative single Rein Me In, featuring Olivia Dean, went to number one and set a record as the longest-running chart-topper in UK music history by remaining in the top spot for 23 weeks.
