Edinburgh has always had a rich and colourful nightlife scene – regardless of what era – and today we’re remembering some old pubs and clubs that we’ve lost along the way.
Have a look through our photo gallery and let memories of the good old days come flooding back. And before you go, please share your own recollections of the Capital's lost pubs and clubs in the comments section.

25. The Venue
The Venue opened as the Jailhouse on Calton Road back in the early 1980s. During its relatively short life, it served the city exceptionally well, introducing Edinburgh punters to an eclectic mix of traditional guitar-based bands and electronic acts before closing in 2006. Nirvana famously played here. Photo: Third Party

26. Massa
Massa nightclub on Market Street, July 1, 2003. Latterly known as Electric Circus before closing permanently. This was also once the site for the iconic 80s nightclub Buster Browns. Photo: Third Party
