An Edinburgh restaurant owned by chef Michael Neave has announced that is is closing its doors.

Michael Neave Kitchen & Whiskey Bar, located on Old Fishmarket Close has been a favourite amongst diners looking for great food and Scottish produce since it opened in 2012.

On the restaurant's website he wrote: "The team at Michael Neave always meet up at the start up each year to discuss the works that need done to carry on meeting our standards and most importantly your expectations.

"We also appreciate how hard the steep inclination can be to many of you.

"Many of my loyal clients and supporters will know I opened my restaurant 8 years ago. It’s been an incredible journey for me and I really feel it’s the right time for me to step back and take a much needed break.

"I would sincerely like to thank everyone for the amazing opportunities I have had. I have met many fabulous people and have made memories that I will always cherish.

Those who have dining vouchers to use at the restaurant have been advised that Michael's Grill and Seafood Place, both on Jeffrey Street and Eyre Place, will accept the vouchers on their behalf or the vouchers can be refunded.
