Edinburgh is such a beautiful city but once you get off the beaten track and away from the big tourist attractions, there is a wealth of forgotten buildings that you may not know are there. Some are creepy while others are just fascinating.
Here’s a look at ten of the most interesting ones including an old war bunker which is set to be restored and turned into a museum.
9. Deans South 'ghost' village, West Lothian
Deans South estate has been branded a 'ghost village', as out of more than 200 houses most are now lying empty. Houses were earmarked for demolition in 2004 due to a fault in the concrete used to build them. Now the condemned site is full of overgrown gardens, boarded up homes and graffiti. Photo: Supplied
10. Jewish cemetery
On the edge of Newington lies a cemetery so small and hidden it seems almost invisible. The tiny burial ground opened in 1816, the final resting place of four generations of Jewish families who settled in Edinburgh from Germany and the Low Countries. It's hidden with only around 30 stones but remains only one of it's kind in Scotland. Photo: Supplied
