Hearts sign Aron Benjaminsen on a huge contract with more transfers to come

Faroe Islands winger checks in at Tynecastle Park

Teenage Faroese winger Aron Benjaminsen is officially a Hearts player after completing his transfer from Vikingur Gota. He cost the Edinburgh club a modest fee which will reach six figures including add-ons. After undergoing a medical and signing a huge four-year contract, the 18-year-old will now begin trying to impress Riccarton coaching staff in the next phase of his career.

Benjaminsen was identified by Hearts’ recruitment partner Jamestown Analytics having scored highly on their data-based scouting system. He scored nine goals and claimed nine assists in 26 appearances for Vikingur this year. They were preparing for his exit as various clubs showed interest, and he is now the latest addition in Gorgie.

A Faroe Island Under-21 internationalist, Benjaminsen is regarded as one of his country's most promising emerging talents. He is predominantly a right-sided wide player but can also operate on the left. He is known for drifting into the penalty area to get on the end of crosses and his finishing prowess earned him a big reputation in his homeland. He played with Skala IF and Kristiansund before joining Vikingur in March this year. His contract there had two years to run but has now been bought out by Hearts, who feel he can develop in Scotland to become a future asset.

Benjaminsen is not the only teenage protégé joining the squad at Tynecastle Park. Hearts are also close to completing another six-figure deal for Swiss midfielder Leart Kabashi. He is leaving Grasshopper Zurich for Scotland as another promising 18-year-old highlighted by Jamestown’s algorithms. A deal has been agreed between both clubs and his arrival is expected to be confirmed before the Scottish transfer window closes at 5pm on Thursday.

Hearts issued a statement confirming Benjaminsen’s capture. It read: “Heart of Midlothian is delighted to confirm the signing of Aron Benjaminsen from Víkingur. The Faroese youngster joins on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, subject to Scottish FA approval and international clearance.

“Considered one of the most promising young talents in Faroese football, the winger was training with the Skála ÍF first team, when scouted by Norwegian side Kristiansund at the age of 16. The move saw Aron enter a professional environment for the first time and after making his debut in a Norwegian Cup match against Melhus, in April 2025, he returned to the Faroes, joining Víkingur in March 2026.

“With that experience in Norway under his belt, Benjaminsen began to thrive and in 20 league matches this season, he racked up 17 goal contributions, eight goals and nine assists, from Vikingur’s 30 league goals this campaign. As well as his domestic form, Aron featured and scored in each leg of Vikingur’s UEFA Conference League Qualifier against Stjarnan of Iceland.

“His impressive season caught the eye of the national team and having already been capped at U17s and U19s level, Aron has now received three caps for the Faroe Islands U21s. Considered a direct and pacey winger, the 18-year-old now makes the move to Gorgie, where he’ll pull on the famous maroon jersey and begin the next chapter of an exciting football journey.”
