Hearts have made an official move to bring Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes to Tynecastle as they step up the search for Neil Critchley’s successor.
The 53-year old has delivered success with St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock throughout his time as a head coach in Scottish football and a big part of that has been his signings. It’s fair to say the former Rangers midfielder has a preference for UK based players which brings up the question of what that means for the current oversees players at Tynecastle and the club’s current recruitment process involving Jamestown Analytics.
Here are the 116 signings that McInnes made for Aberdeen and Kilmarnock:

21. Paul Quinn
Quinn was well known in Scottish football having made over 150 appearances for Motherwell before signing with Cardiff City. He returned to Scotland with Ross County and then Aberdeen but spent just six months at Pittodrie, which included a memorable winning goal against Celtic, before moving back to the Staggies. | SNS Group

22. Aaron Lennox
The Australian stopper was brought in from England as a young keeper to provide competition to more senior figures at the time but managed just one Aberdeen appearance. Would go on to play for Raith Rovers, Partick Thistle and Montrose in the SPFL. | SNS Group

23. Josh Parker
The English born, Antigua & Barbuda international singed for Aberdeen on loan from Red Star Belgrade of all clubs having landed there after a career mainly spent in the EFL. Only played seven times for the Dons and spent the rest of his career back in English football. | SNS Group

24. Ryan McLaughlin
Another Liverpool loanee but the full back, who went on to be capped four times by Northern Ireland, only made a handful of first team appearances at Aberdeen and spent the rest of his career in the EFL before signing for St Patrick's Athletic in the League of Ireland where he currently plays. | SNS Group
