Hearts have made an official move to bring Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes to Tynecastle as they step up the search for Neil Critchley’s successor.
The 53-year old has delivered success with St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock throughout his time as a head coach in Scottish football and a big part of that has been his signings. It’s fair to say the former Rangers midfielder has a preference for UK based players which brings up the question of what that means for the current oversees players at Tynecastle and the club’s current recruitment process involving Jamestown Analytics.
Here are the 116 signings that McInnes made for Aberdeen and Kilmarnock:

25. Adam Collin
Brought in on loan from Rotherham United after Ward's Liverpool recall. Was already a journeyman of the EFL at that point and continued that trend after leaving Pittodrie with the likes of Notts County and Carlisle United | SNS Group

26. Simon Church
A January loan arrival from Reading who did pretty well in the second half of that season with six goals in 13 games. Moved to the Netherlands and then back to England but injuries had always plagued him and would eventually end the 38 times capped Welsh international's career prematurely at just 30-years old. | SNS Group

27. Jayden Stockley
The English striker joined from Bournemouth after a series of loans across the EFL. He spent just one season at Pittodrie before heading back to England's lower leagues and currently plays for Port Vale | SNS Group

28. Joe Lewis
McInnes brought in another keeper who had spent his career in the EFL but this one certainly worked out well. Lewis established himself as one of the best keepers in the Premiership and made over 200 top flight appearances before leaving in 2023. | SNS Group
