It’s the Capital city of Scotland and, we think, the best city in the world. Steeped in history and filled with striking architecture, green spaces, and some of the best restaurants and pubs – Edinburgh has something for everyone. If you’ve never been before and need a guide on the best places to visit, here you go.

9. Dean Village
Dean Village feels like a miraculous treasure in the midst of Edinburgh. With its tranquil stream flowing through, gardens, and 19th Century buildings, it doesn't seem possible it can exist in a Capital city - but it does. 10. Leith
A bustling port area north of the city, Leith is a must-visit. Explore the beautiful Shore with its Scandinavian architecture and exceptional selection of pubs and restaurants, visit the Royal Yacht Britannia, and pop to Newhaven Fish Bar for one of the Capital's best chippies. Photo: Getty Images

11. The Royal Botanic Garden
The Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh is a world-leading scientific centre which has one of the richest and most diverse living collection of plants on Earth. Described as "unmissable", even if you're not into horticulture this is a beautiful and relaxing space to explore nature in the heart of the Capital. Photo: RBGE

12. National Museum of Scotland
Worth a visit for its grand gallery alone, the National Museum of Scotland is bursting with things to see, from dinosaur fossils to science and Scottish history. There is always a captivating exhibition to see, including Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder which runs until May 2023. Photo: Jeff J Mitchell
