Founded in the Borders and now headquartered in Edinburgh, the female-founded business builds full fibre broadband for rural communities across Scotland and northern England. It now reaches more than 130,000 homes and businesses and plans to reach around 250,000 premises by 2028.

Sam Calvert, Chief Commercial Officer at GoFibre, said: “GoFibre, as an independent Scottish company, is proud to be based in Scotland's capital, a terrific place to be based as we continue to grow. We’re thrilled to be leading the way for digital and technology companies in Scotland, as the fastest-growing in the sector and the fifth fastest-growing company in Scotland overall.

“Our results in expanding our broadband network across southern and north-east Scotland, strong customer growth and retention - including better than expected customer take-up in new build areas - demonstrates our success. We are excited about further growth in 2027 and continuing to deliver our mission to improve digital connectivity and connect new communities to our gigabit-capable broadband.”

GoFibre is one of eleven Edinburgh businesses named among Scotland’s 50 fastest-growing independent firms. The other Edinburgh firms on the list are:

Scotland’s fastest-growing firms double in size

Across Scotland, combined turnover of the Scotland Fast Growth 50 rose from £854 million in 2023 to £1.92 billion in 2025. That’s an increase of 125 per cent and more than £1 billion of new economic activity. Topping the Scottish list is Glasgow activewear brand DFYNE, which grew by 884 per cent to become Scotland’s fastest-growing company and the UK’s fastest-growing large firm. Seventeen Scottish firms also feature in the UK Top 200.

Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, founder of the UK Fast Growth Index and visiting professor at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at Strathclyde University, said: “Scotland’s fastest-growing firms have had an exceptional two years, more than doubling in size and adding over £1 billion to the Scottish economy. DFYNE’s story, from a £5,800 credit card to a business turning over almost £150 million, is one of the most remarkable on this year’s Index.

“What stands out is the breadth of that success. From fibre broadband in the Borders to wind energy training in Inverness, and from cashmere on the Royal Mile to shortbread in Huntly, these businesses show that entrepreneurial ambition is thriving in every part of Scotland and every sector of its economy. Many are also sustaining their growth year after year and the task now is to help more of them grow into the large, independent Scottish companies of the future.”
