Edinburgh is reckoned to be one of the most haunted cities in the world, so it’s hardly surprising Auld Reekie’s pubs and restaurants are full of ghostly tales.
There’s no better place to be on Halloween – also known as All Hallow’s Eve – when the spirits of the underworld return to haunt the living. If you’re looking for a devilish bite to eat, a ghoulish drink, or some blood-curdling entertainment, there's plenty of places to try.
Take a look through our gallery to see 13 photos of the most haunted Edinburgh pubs and restaurants.

9. Banshee Labyrinth
Address: 29-35 Niddry Street, Edinburgh EH1 1LG. It is claimed that a female ghost - or banshee - haunts Banshee Labyrinth, bewailing the cruel punishment Lord Nicol Edwards wrongly inflicted upon her. There's a pub, live music, and even cinema at this spectacularly spooky spot. Photo: Google Maps

10. Greyfriars Bobby's Bar
Address: 30-34 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh, EH1 2QE. Greyfriars Bobby's Bar is said to be haunted by Bobby himself - but in a friendly way. The story goes that after his owner, John Gray died in 1858, Bobby faithfully watched over his grave every night. When the dog eventually passed away in 1872, he was buried alongside his master in the Greyfriars Kirkyard. Visitors to the pub over the years have reported hearing distant barks and feeling 'things' brush up against their legs when there was nothing there. Photo: Greyfriars Bobby's Bar

11. Starbar
Address: 1 Northumberland Place, Edinburgh EH3 6LQ. This 'hidden gem' New Town pub has a clause in its lease forbidding the removal of a human skull from their premises, for fear of the consequences. Incidents that occurred after moving it include a shooting, a fire and a mysterious flooding. Spoooooooky! Photo: Google

12. Cocktail Geeks
