Hearts assistant coach Austin MacPhee will meet club owner Ann Budge on Monday for talks on his future.
MacPhee has been offered the manager's job at Indian Super League side Pune City and will discuss the matter with Budge before making a final decision.
The 38-year-old is keen to take his first step into management and is intrigued by the opportunity and lucrative six-figure salary on offer in India.
However, he is unsure whether now is the right time to leave Hearts. The Edinburgh club embarked on an extensive summer recruitment drive - signing 11 players so far - and start their competitive season on Wednesday in the Betfred Cup against Cove Rangers.
Budge has been on a summer break and only returned to Scotland this weekend. She will speak to MacPhee to give her thoughts and he will then decide where his future lies.
Pune City became aware of MacPhee a few weeks ago when he attended a coaching seminar in India. His work impressed them and they contacted Hearts for permission to speak to him, which was granted. They formally offered him the manager's position on Thursday.
MacPhee joined Hearts in December 2016 and also works part-time as assistant to the Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill.
